"Ace" is a rat terrier adopted from the Animal Foundation. He is a sweet little tri-pod who likes to sun bathe in the yard and play with squeaky toys now and then.

Our big black cat "Nitro" likes to pester Ace and also likes to pretend to be a hunter in the back yard and get covered in dirt. He's a unique and clingy cat who purrs and drools when you come anywhere near him, he LOVES to be pet.

"Kayla" was a blonde lab/husky mix who I adopted at 5 years old and was an amazing and special dog. I miss her all the time.

I have been blessed with all of my pets being sweet, unique, and adorable!

I find the psychology of canines to be fascinating! I enjoy the challenges that come along with figuring out what's going on in their doggie minds and shaping their behaviors to a more favorable outcome.

Bringing all of my experience to each new dog I get to work with is something I enjoy! This also means that there are many ways to resolve behavioral issues and it's my job to help you solve them.

My training methods and theory

The most important aspect is to help strengthen the human-animal bond. I am here to help establish better communication and foster more positive interactions. My goals is to help you guys work together and create a positive-feedback loop of desirable behaviors.

Our pups enjoy our company and like to make us happy! (Most of the time). Once we find what motivates them, you can begin to work together to overcome any behavioral obstacles, learn new skills or refine bad habits. I will help you keep your pup engaged and motivated to learn!

Using positive reinforcement LIMA principles as the basis for my methods, this helps to build trust and encourages our dogs to cooperate with us willingly. This means we motivate them to stick with us as we teach them what we'd like them to do, then they will begin to offer the behaviors automatically! Treats, toys, praise, play-time, freedom to run around the house, going out the door, going on a walk, earning meals are ALL some examples of the many reinforcements we can use to make training fun and part of your normal daily routine.

Communicating with our dogs can seem confusing and impossible sometimes. That's what I'm here for! Non-verbal (or body language) communication is a large part of the foundations of communicating with our pups. I will teach you verbal cues ("commands") that we will practice, and your dog will eventually learn to quickly perform the cues you ask of them.

Training is not just for puppies! All dogs can benefit from training. One important factor to consider is that training is about fun, and basic obedience is a great start, but training is also about safety. Busy streets, other dogs or animals, young or old people, yucky things on the side of the road on walks, toxic foods we drop on the floor, new baby coming home soon and so on. I believe in implementing some simple "house rules" to follow with all dogs and you'll quickly see a noticeable improvement of their behaviors and healthy boundaries help everyone be safer and feel more at peace. Then, those new behaviors become the new norm (habit). Who among us couldn't benefit from a refresher on manners!

With a variety of breeds, ages, sizes, personalities and behavioral habits- I can tailor each area of training to your needs. In a group class setting this can be a bit of a welcomed challenge, but there are multiple ways of going about teaching our dogs new things so finding that success is what I love to do!

Socialization is so important! We often think of this as dogs meeting dogs and people etc. But, socialization is so much more than that and the sooner/younger we start doing it right, the better! We have to remember that dogs are DOGS trying to live in a complex, over-whelming and dangerous HUMAN world. I will help you learn to introduce new people, places, things in the best way possible to avoid reactivity or fear associated with these things. If they have already developed some reactivity, I will help you get to the root of the issue and walk you both through the path to over-coming this over-reaction.
